Linen shorts

Linen shorts
A pair of limbs in linen shorts

I made this linen shorts several days ago because I need something to wear at home. The linen fabric is only 50 cm, bought already cut and it’s only about $2.

The pattern is Jane from Burdastyle, which is very simple and easy. The fabric wasn’t enough, so I only added 1 cm for the hem and folded it inside, then I sewed a row of cotton lace on it. The cotton lace is from 100 yen shop, talking about cheap project!

I kinda like the first picture, it looks like a picture of a pair of limbs without a body! Very funny. Usually I took pictures in my bedroom, and it means that I have to take all the mattresses out of the room. Today I’m a bit tired to do all of that, so I took pictures in my sewing room. The space is smaller and the lighting is not as good as the other room, but I guess the pictures turned out okay.

This is the chair that I use when sewing, the sewing room used to be my husband’s computer room when he was living a single life. Now the room including the chair is mine. He moved downstairs and now has to work on his notebook while sitting on the floor. Poor husband.

I sit by the window when I’m sewing, and often take a peek outside to see if  Sidra come back from school. I can see him walking along the river from a distance. I love seeing him walking there, sometimes he takes time examining something on the ground or stopping to see the ducks on the river. Then when he gets nearer, I would call his name and wave at him. He would wave back and call my name. That would be the little highlight of my day.

Shorts pattern is Jane from Burdastyle.

The pants are so cute, and they look great on you! I like the slippers you are wearing on the last picture, are they handmade?

  4. Hi! This is first time that I leave a comment even though after discovering Your blog maybe few months back I have come here ever so often. Love Your blog.
Your latest flower fabric projects inspired me to sew. I haven’t done that very much – well mostly because I’m so novice about it. And You make it look so simple. So I made for myself these kind of shorts (pattern from Burda 5/10) and also kneehight pants in floral pattern (SO inspired by Your projects). :) And now I keep wanting to sew new things.
So Thank You! Even though You live other side of the world (I live in Estonia/Europe) You have given a lot of inspiration and therefore changed my world. :) Thank You!
    Keep up the good work!

    • So happy to hear that, Margit!
Making clothes need not to be intimidating, let’s make it simple and have fun with it!
Thank you for making me happy today :)

  5. It looks awesome!!!
I’m totally inspired by your shorts now. Very handy with the weather we are having in Europe these days.
I’m going to hit to BurdaStyle right away.

I hope I’ll be able to make it at least with 10% of the cuteness of yours.

    Great creation as usual!!!

    • Hahaha! I didn’t realize it until you mention it!
Luckily, I wear something else before I have this one 😛

  6. I don’t have to mention that you have very sweet husband!!
Very, very cute shorts! They look very cozy!!
P.S. It would be very nice from you that some stuff you make are in bigger sizes (like European M(10):-))!!

  7. I love your shorts. They are so adorable.

What a great husband to give you the room and the chair. You did by marrying him. He treats you so well.

How sweet it must be to see Sidra walking along, observing things and how your heart must leap of anticipation and joy at his return. I’m sure you miss him all day and just cover him with hugs and kisses when he is home. You’re a good mommy.

    • Well, he didn’t have a choice but to surrender the room and chair to his selfish wife, Trudy! 😀
You are right about my heart leaping with joy at Sidra’s return, although it happens everyday. Isn’t that wonderful, having something to wait for everyday? Thank you, Trudy!

  8. Your shorts are so cute! I really like the style and fabric. It must be lovely to see your son in his way back walking by the river, so sweet!

  9. My son does the same thing. Sometimes he brings me rocks or flowers from his walk home. Once he brought a giant bunch of Water Hemlock! That’s poisonous!! He never did it again. :-)

I love your style and these shorts are too adorable.

    Thanks for sharing,
    Danna

    • Hahaha, yes he often brings back of lot of strange objects like rocks or fallen fruit. I have to be check all his pockets before doing the laundry 😛
